Universal Careers promotes giving during holiday season

Thanksgiving was a wonderful day for many, marked by family, meals and fun. For others, however, the day was spent in a homeless shelter.

The hard economic times have hit many families, and Universal Careers pitched in to help. The holiday season is especially rough on shelters and food pantries during this time, so the EMT training school reached out with multiple drives.

The first was a successful canned food drive held in Universal Careers' training facilities and Los Angeles-based customer service offices. The second was a turkey donation drive held in Los Angeles. Bot h drives raised food and money for area homeless shelters.

Universal Careers Director of Community Affairs said, “We believe that it is important to give back to the community. While we provide EMTs through our programs who work to help others, there is a direct need that Universal Careers wants to help alleviate as well.”

Since 2005, Universal Careers has become a leader in EMT/paramedic training. Through an intensive, hands-on program taught by experienced paramedics, UC helps graduates certify in all 50 states. The school also provides job placement assistance through a database of clients and former graduates to help certified graduates find employment that best matches their needs.

“Help comes through a variety of ways- medical, food assistance or just being an active part of the community. That's what Universal Careers hopes everyone can learn.”
